A Social Media Update from Strengthening Wellbeing Together CIC

Updated: Mar 12

It has actually been quite a while since we last wrote a blog post here. Like many small community organisations, most of our updates have tended to happen on social media rather than on the website.

However, something unexpected happened recently that felt important to share with our community. It also feels like a good moment to start using the blog again to keep people informed about what’s happening with Strengthening Wellbeing Together CIC.

The sudden loss of our social media pages

For over six years our social media pages have quietly documented the journey of our little CIC.

Unfortunately, our Facebook and Instagram accounts — which hold years of memories, photos and connections with the wonderful people who have taken part in our activities — were unexpectedly disabled by Meta this weekend.

Those pages weren’t run by a marketing team or organisation with paid staff. They were simply part of a labour of love in our community, for our community.

So it has been incredibly sad and quite shocking to suddenly lose access to those accounts and the record of everything they held.

Alongside the connections and conversations they enabled, they also contained a huge amount of our shared history.

We are currently awaiting a review

We have submitted an appeal and are currently waiting for the situation to be reviewed.

At the moment we simply don’t know what the outcome will be, but we remain hopeful that the accounts might still be restored. The problem is, we have no idea how long that might take.

Staying connected while we wait

In the meantime, we didn’t want to disappear completely. Those pages are how we talk directly to you.

If the review process takes some time, we may look at creating temporary social media pages so that we can continue to share information about our sessions, activities and events.

Follow us over on Eventbrite to be notified when we announce events and activities in Liverpool.

We will keep this website updated as things progress.

Thank you to our community

Strengthening Wellbeing Together CIC has always been a small grassroots organisation built around people, relationships and community spirit.

The huge majority of what we do is free to access and supported by volunteers, small grants and the goodwill of the people who take part.

To everyone who has attended a session, joined a walk, brought their family to an activity, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on along the way – thank you.

Your support means more than you probably realise.

Looking ahead

While losing access to our social media archive has been very upsetting, the work itself continues.

The walks will still happen. The wellbeing sessions will still take place. The conversations, laughter and quiet moments of reflection that make up our community will continue.

Over the coming weeks we may also start sharing some photos and memories from previous years here on the website so that our community story can still be celebrated.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
