The Science of Wellbeing

Flourishing is the term psychologists use to describe experiencing high levels of wellbeing & mental health. According to positive psychologist Martin Seligman, there are 5 building blocks that enable flourishing.

They are:

  • Positive Emotions (i.e. experiencing joy, hope, gratitude, love)

  • Engagement (engaging in activities where you become fully immersed)

  • Relationships (i.e. positive relationships, connection & support)

  • Meaning (i.e. feeling a sense of purpose & belonging)

  • Accomplishment (feeling a sense of achievement)
